I've decided...

The word decide comes from Latin decidere, which means literally, "to cut off."
So, technically, I can't make a decision without cutting off at least one option. Often a decision means to cut off all other options.
Today I decided that I'm in charge here. I've been letting circumstances dictate things a bit too long. Granted, I've taken action, steps in the right direction, all along the way. But I've never taken full control. Consequently, my boat is a little battered right now from the somewhat random journey down the river.
In the past, I've let love find me. I've let work find me. I've even let my photographs find me.
I've been lucky. Granted luck is preparation meeting opportunity, but I've never really used my true power for good on a consistent basis.
Now I'm going explore that path. Deliberately and consciously.
I felt so good, like anything was possible.
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes.
The last three days the rain was unstoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine
Yeah runnin' down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin' on a mystery
Goin' wherever it leads
Runnin' down a dream
I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There's something good waitin' down this road
I'm pickin' up whatever's mine

Help

beautiful photo. and you go!
Thanks. He's my Yosemite buddy.
Thanks for sharing that. I can definitely relate to certain parts of it (eg, the idea of “granted luck”) and I find your new path–and your decisiveness about it–very inspiring.
What would the coyote do?
This was kind of my halftime motivational speech. I do these from time to time in order to kick start me in a new direction. Thanks.
Not sure what the coyote would do. He's a bit of an opportunist, an entertainer, and a prankster. And while I can relate to the prankster, I've been too long an opportunist. Now I want to live a bit more deliberately.

Now THAT'S blogging! GREAT post! I'm exceedingly curious how you mean to put this into action…
Thanks. I needed to kick myself in the pants. So yesterday I started by buying a new bike. I came home and wrote the first workbook for my new business venture. Then I went for a 90-minute bike ride (my first in years) through a marine bird sanctuary. And today I've got a personal coaching call with LaSara Firefox to work on my focus and how to take conscious charge of my life.
I'm a bit sore and tired right now, but I feel great. Like I'm finally on track.
Mark, it was great working with you this morning! You inspire. I'm proud to be your coach!
Peace.
