What would you choose to make a film about?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for May 10, 2008:
I'd love to make a film about true foregiveness, using the Acholi people of Northern Uganda as the key story. These people have suffered terribly during more than 20 years of civil war, being forced from their subsistance farms into overcrowded IDP (or refugee) camps. Yet all these people want to do is forgive and reintegrate the rebels -- no punishment, no war-crimes trials. They just want to resume their lives.
If you don't believe me, listen to one of the priests who was ambushed and almost killed.
What really impressed me is how these people have kept their hope, love of life, and their industrious nature alive after all this time. This past summer, several of the camps actually began selling their surplus crops to outsiders -- including traders from the Sudan.
They understand that life isn't about what you get. It's about what you make of it.

Amen Brother.
This is something we all need to witness…

I think this would be a great documentary….hope you do make it someday!
I listened to the priest and really felt his forgiveness and sense of hope. He chooses not to dwell on what happened, but instead on making the most out of the situation and seeing the opportunity he now has… It's obvious that he truly loves life. Very cool.
PS–Wonderful photo!
Thanks guys. I'm working on it. But this time I want to bring a real director of photography, and then edit every night to make sure we got the footage we need.
There are such amazing stories there. True stories of hope and forgiveness that simply expand your heart. You can't spend time with these people without expanding your consciousness.
