An Idea Worth Sharing

This morning, a new friend sent me a link to this amazing story. This is Jill Bolte Taylor's presentation at TED this year, and it blew me away.

When you watch it, listen for how her voice changes when she describes awakening from her stroke. Then check in with how you feel.

The logic is fascinating, the feeling is wonderful.

Well the first time I came to your blog this week I laughed, the second time I cried, and now the third time I cried and smiled. I think I give your blog the award for touching my emotions this week, Mark!

I so enjoyed the neuroscientists story.  Wow!  the intensity she went through to share her journey through stroke. I got chills and felt it right with her. When I saw the picture with the doc and her mom, tears ran down my cheeks.

Personally, I experience the right brain connection very strongly. Nursing is very grounding, and I have to use my left brain to help someone in acute physical crisis…so it's a good balance. However, I am choosing a  transition to BE more in that “flowing space” professionally now, by changing my focus to massage therapy.

“Like a whale”..interesting she used those words…I can relate…it feels so good to be there.
Hard for me to come “back” …I enjoy the flow.

It's hard to ….as she said “fit it all into this little body” sometimes.

Especially when one knows how that “other side” feels, and how the world could be if we existed in “that space”.

Thanks for sharing…my kind of story.

Now I'm insanely curious what made you laugh and what made you cry?

She told an amazing story. It really did describe that sensation I've experienced when meditating, and the trouble of squeezing everything back into my body (which is a little more expansive than I would prefer). And she did it better than I think I ever could.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Well I meant I laughed at the aura and clown wig comments, got tears in my eyes at the little story about the surgery, and then cried a little watching this and smiled at the end.

I had an experience of astral travel once and thunked back into my body. A tight squeeze, I know what you mean….. to come back “into” the body…..is a bit…well, something ha.

What a beautiful strong person Jill is. So interesting to hear a scientist talk about spiritual experiences.

Thanks again.

Ah yes, now it's all coming back to me.

She is an amazing woman. And that experience means so much to her. You can hear it in her voice.
